NEXus

NEXus

NEXus began in 2004 as a partnership to share courses among four universities in the Western U.S. that offered PhD programs. In order to address the nursing faculty shortage, NEXus facilitates the preparation of nurse educators and researchers through application of distance accessible delivery methods. In 2008, NEXus added the DNP and began offering DNP courses within the exchange. Today, NEXus membership has expanded across the nation to include 12 academic collaborating institutions (schools that both offer and access courses at collaborating universities) and two academic affiliates (schools that only access courses from collaborating universities).

There is significant value in participating in NEXus. Members of NHCGNE will be eligible for discounted participation fees which will further increase the potential value of such participation.

NHCGNE/NEXus Award Opportunity

The NHCGNE and NEXus are currently accepting applications from schools with a strong commitment to gerontological nursing. Institutions currently offering doctoral programs in nursing who are interested in increasing access to doctoral level courses in gerontological nursing practice, education, and research, through partnerships and distance technology, are encouraged to apply (link coming soon) for an award of $10,000 to support membership in the NHCGNE and NEXus.

Orientation Webinar will be held on July 29, 2013 or September 23, 2013 (both from 10 AM – 12 PM PDT). If you are interested, please contact Terri Harvath at harvatht@ohsu.edu
