At the core of the BAGNC program are the Scholars and Fellows. These women and men choose to apply and are selected because of their outstanding commitment to geriatric nursing and recognized potential for future leadership. It is the intention of the program and of the John A. Hartford Foundation that by producing expert academicians, practitioners and researchers who will lead the field of geriatric nursing, this will ultimately improve the care of elders in our society. With the selection of the 2009-2011 cohort, the number of participants in the program is 199. That is 199 more faculty who will be teaching the next cadre of nurses and conducting ground-breaking research that will ultimately lead to the best care possible for older adults. |
