NHCGNE Research Planning Grant

NHCGNE Research Planning Grant

The NHCGNE is committed to identifying patient population clinical studies for diseases, symptoms and conditions associated with aging and to ascertaining the associated health outcomes by supporting robust, well-planned and designed, and well-executed clinical studies. Significant planning is typically required before submitting an application to conduct a multi-site, clinical study. At the time of submission of applications requesting support for multi-site, patient population clinical studies, applicants are expected to provide detailed information including but not limited to analytical techniques, protocols, and collaborative arrangements. This research opportunity is open to NHCGNE member schools only and is intended to provide a clinical research planning grant to support the planning activities needed for the successful execution of complex and multi-site clinical studies, including the development of a detailed study protocol and Manual Of Procedures.

The NHCGNE research planning grant is not designed for the collection of preliminary data (clinical or preclinical) or the collection of prospective data to support the rationale for a clinical study. However, investigators may propose pilot testing of the recruitment and retention techniques or outcome definitions in a limited number of participants to better inform designs of the planned studies. A statement of intent to submit an application is required from each site principle investigator and may be submitted on a continuous basis between March 1 and June 1, 2014. The statement of intent must be signed by the principal investigator and Dean of the School of Nursing. This opportunity expires June 1, 2014. For additional information on preparing for electronic submission, please contact: Jtaylor_Harden@geron.org.
