Admission Criteria

Freshman applicants who want to enter the BSN program at the University of California Irvine must first be admitted to the university. They have to complete two years of high school laboratory science in the areas of biology and chemistry with a grade of C or higher, and have proof of volunteer experience, leadership activities, awards or honors and an essay. Students with high-grade point average (GPA) scores on the ACT or SAT examinations will have priority.

Concentration in Community and Population Health Nursing (CPHN)

Admission Requirements

Students applying for a Master of Science in Nursing must have a Bachelor’s degree from a non-nursing university program that is an accredited institution meeting the degree standards of the University of California Irvine. Transcripts should show a Grade Point Average of 3.0 and have prerequisites in general chemistry, microbiology with lab, anatomy, and physiology with lab, sociology, psychology, and statistics. Applicants must complete the online application for graduate admission and submit three letters of recommendation and TOEFL or IELTS results for international students.

Students enrolled in a Master’s program usually pay $1,600 per year. These fees are charged for one academic year and do not include the summer quarter. Doctor of Philosophy Program

Admission Criteria

Applicants of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree program must have earned a Baccalaureate or Master of Science degree in nursing from a CCNE accredited institution equivalent to the degree standards of the University of California Irvine. The university requires applicants to present a current and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse and a transcript showing completion of the necessary prerequisites including a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
