Quality CNA training is essential for anyone who wants to pursue a career as a CNA. In order to continue their successful career in the area of healthcare, they must first pass this exam. Students enrolled in CNA training programs should learn not just the skills necessary to pass the certification test, but also the responsibilities that come with becoming a future CNA. In order to determine the physical, psychological, and emotional requirements of patients, students should learn to apply active listening skills while interacting with them.
The demand for licensed nursing aides is so great in Utah that many businesses are unable to fill their positions with the number of qualified employees they need. Nurses are among the most adaptable employees in the world today. They must be able to do a range of various tasks in order to be satisfied with their job while being comfortable with their current position. It is possible for them to work as home health aides, orderlies, attendees, psychiatric assistants, physical therapist assistants, or personal/home care assistants.
Salt Lake Community College
The biggest college in Utah is Salt Lake Community College (SLCC). More than 60,000 learners are served by SLCC’s ten locations and online courses. Northwest Commission on College and University (NWCCU) accreditation make it easy to transfer college credits from SLCC to 4-year institutions in the area. In fact, over three-quarters of SLCC’s students continue their education beyond the certificate or diploma program.
The SLCC School of Applied Technology and Technical Specialties offers a Certified Nursing Assistant (KCNA) course. UNAR, which regulates CNA instructors and programs, has given its approval to the curriculum of this program. Human connections, anatomy and physiology, bacteriology, body mechanics, illness processes, and therapeutic treatments are all covered in this course. When it comes to patient and CNA safety, “precaution” is a constant topic throughout the training.
Student certificates will be issued at the end of the 150-hour curriculum. There are two options for class times. In the morning, sessions run from 7 to 12:30, while in the evening, classes run from 5 to 9. The college’s Jordan Campus hosts both schedules, which meet Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A few weeks before graduation, students must complete six clinical rotations in long-term care facilities and acute care hospitals.
An application fee of $40, $342 in tuition, $22.50 in student fees, a $15 laboratory charge, and an additional $120 in books and supplies are among the expenditures. This is in addition to UNAR’s licensing fee, a $30 background check, a $35 drug test, and an estimated $15 in vaccines. Uniforms may range from $25 to $60. (scrubs, shoes, and watch). There are also available courses, such as CPR for Health Professionals ($29.52) that students may have to take.
For additional information about SLCC’s KCNA program, call (801) 957-3354 or email (SATTS@slcc.edu).
Avalon Health Care Group
For the last three decades, Avalon Health Care has provided elder care services. Assisted living, care coordination, home health care, hospice care, and a pharmacy with a wide selection of prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals are all available at the Avalo facility. They offer mortgages for senior housing and nursing homes too, Serving communities at over 50 locations across the region.
Each of Avalon’s five CNA training programs lasts between three weeks and 100 hours. The material may be adapted to meet the requirements of the consumers.
Classes are available in a variety of locations, but new ones are formed each month. Classes are held every day of the week in the three-week accelerated program. Weekday lessons run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays for the first two weeks. Students are required to perform 12 hours of clinical practice each weekend during the first week of class. On the second week, they may complete 12 hours of clinicals from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. following weekday sessions. During the last week of courses, the weekday sessions run from Monday through Wednesday. From Thursday through Saturday, students must complete a total of 24 hours of clinical training.
The self-paced program follows the same schedule but students can extend the class time by attending classes over a longer period of time. For example, you could complete all six courses in 90 days by attending one class per week on Mondays, Fridays, and Tuesdays at your local campus while also attending two evening classes on Mondays & Thursdays at a different campus.
Employees at Avalon are given free training by the company. Other workers must pay $400 to participate in the program. In addition to the four hours of CPR certification, the course includes the use of textbooks and materials, a name badge, and the purchase of a workbook.

Utah CNA Training Centers, LLC
The Utah CNA Training Centers are the source of many of the certified nursing assistants employed by Terri Holland’s home health firm. Only 15 persons were allowed to attend the first CNA training facility in Utah, which was a converted office area. It has expanded to five sites in Clearfield; Logan; Murray; Orem; and Salt Lake City.
The Utah CNA Training Centers are operated by TAC Education Services, Inc., which is certified as a benefit corporation. Because of this differentiation, the training facility will stay focused on quality. Because of this, they’ve simplified and improved the quality of their programs.
Additionally, the facility offers a CNA/ESL curriculum, a refresher course for CNAs, and training for family caregivers. The Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) has approved all programs.
76 hours of lecture time are allocated to the curriculum, with the remaining 24 hours devoted to clinical practice. Classes run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Two days of clinicals are scheduled for the weekend before the final class session, on a Saturday and Sunday. Twelve hours is the standard length of time spent in each clinical session. Last Saturday’s class is just 8:00 am-12:00 pm, so don’t miss out on this opportunity! Only those who can commit to all 100 hours of sessions are eligible for the program. Applicants must be at least 16 and fluent in English.
The typical CNA course costs $425, which includes textbooks and workbooks as well as assistance in finding a job. Additionally, it might save you money on your BLS CPR certification. The institution reserves $145 for your deposit during enrollment. A scholarship program is also offered to those who meet the requirements.

Public CNA lessons are given in addition to the center’s patient and resident services. They teach CNAs at this facility for 100 hours, which is split between classroom and clinical training.
Every month, a new set of lessons is launched. A two-week curriculum with 2 days of additional clinical teaching is available.
Applications for the course must be sent in writing to the center, which includes a message including personal information such as one’s name, email address, and phone number. Also, the Life Care Center of Salt Lake City should receive a $100 deposit (via cheque or money order).
Getting your CNA certification from Life Care Center will set you back around $400, which you should pay in full before the first day of class. The material, CNA Test prep, and classroom and clinical teaching are already included in this price. CPR training for healthcare providers may be obtained for $35 by students who do not already have it. In addition, students must purchase all necessary equipment and pay the $75 exam testing cost individually.
