You will need to complete training and pass the licensing exam before you are eligible to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of New York. LPN training programs must be at least 9 months in length. Some programs last for one or even two years depending on the exact materials covered and whether you attend training full or part-time.

LPN Training Programs must be improved by the Department of Education if an individual wants to be eligible to sit for the licensing exam and to become employed as an LPN in New York. During training, nursing students will have classroom instruction and nursing procedural courses. They will also need to complete clinical rotations to gain experience carrying out nursing duties.

Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is located just off West Genesee Street on Thirsty Lane. The PN program at Cayuga-Onondaga is a full-time 11-month Day-only program that prepares students for appearing in the NCLEX-PN examinations.

Hostos Community College is located on Grand Concourse near Public School 31. The Nursing program at Hostos Community is a 5-semester course including class lectures and patient simulated laboratory.

Medgar Evers College Practical Nursing Program

Monroe College is located at the intersection of Jerome Avenue and West 190th Street. The PN program at Monroe College is a 3-semester course and is specifically based on a framework of basic human needs.

Clara Barton High School for Health

Clara Barton High School for Health is situated on Washington Avenue very close to the Brooklyn Museum. The PN program at Clara Barton is a State-approved program which gives the students the opportunity to appear for the NCLEX-PN exams.

Dutchess BOCES Practical Nursing Program

Dutchess BOCES is located just off Salt Point Turnpike near Dutchess County Automotive Services. The LPN program at Dutchess BOCES is a 1-year course that can be completed by putting in approximately 500 hours

Southern Westchester BOCES Practical Nursing Program

Southern Westchester BOCES is located on Executive Boulevard very near to the Sprain Brook Parkway. The PN program at Southern Westchester can be taken as a 20-month Evening program or as a 10-month accelerated Day program.

Orange-Ulster BOCES PN Program

Orange-Ulster BOCES is located just off Dolson Avenue near Saffron Indian Cuisine. The PN program at Orange-Ulster BOCES is a 1,104-hour course and incorporates classroom instruction as well as clinical experience.

Rockland BOCES Practical Nursing Program

Rockland BOCES is located just off Parrott Road, quite near to the Felix V. Festa Middle School. The LPN program at Rockland BOCES can be taken as a one-year full-time, or a two-year part-time course. Both options are Day programs only.

Westchester Community College PN Program

Westchester Community College is located just off Grasslands Road, close to the Lady Bird Johnson Park. The PN program at Westchester Community consists of two semesters and two summer sessions Admission requires health clearance.

Sullivan County BOCES

Sullivan County BOCES is located on Wierk Avenue just before it runs into Lake Street. The LPN program at Sullivan County BOCES can either be taken as a full-time 10-month or a part-time 18-month course. Both programs have 1,188 hours of instruction.

Maria College

Maria College is located a little off New Scotland Avenue, near the Langan School. The LPN program at Maria College offers 3 tracks. Track-1 is part-time with 46 credits, track-2 is part-time with 47 credits, and track-3 is full-time with 47 credits.

North Country Community College PN Program

North Country Community College is located at Winona Avenue near Dorchester Road. The LPN program at North Country is a two-semester course that is built on a career-ladder concept in nursing education, providing upward mobility for students.

Cattaraugus-Allegany-Erie-Wyoming BOCES

Cattaraugus-Allegany-Erie-Wyoming BOCES is located on County Road 48 in the Belmont area. The LPN at Cattaraugus-Allegany-Erie-Wyoming BOCES is a 1,300-hour two-year part-time program only.

Erie 1 BOCES

Erie 1 BOCES Potter Career and Technical Center is located right at the junction of Potter Road and Hall Road. The LPN program at Erie 1 is a full-time 1-year course preparing students to take the NCLEX-PN.

Jamestown Community College

Jamestown Community College is located off James Avenue near Weeks Gallery. The LPN program at Jamestown Community College is a 4-semester course and develops traits such as accountability, communication, and leadership in the students.

Niagara County Community College

Niagara County Community College is located near the junction of Saunders Settlement Road and Cambria-Lewiston Town Line Road. The LPN at Niagara County can be completed in two semesters and two summers. To complete the course one has to complete 48 credit hours.

Trocaire College

Trocaire College is located at Choate Avenue right next to Mt. Mercy Academy. The LPN program at Trocaire College is a 3-semester course in which the students have to maintain a G.P.A. of at least 2.0 to stay in.
