You can start a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse by attending an LPN training program in Missouri that has been approved by the Board of Nursing. You will also need to pass the licensing exam before you can begin practicing as an LPN. Training will generally last between 1 to 2 years and will include classroom instruction as well as clinical training.

There are many different courses you will take to teach you about the human body, nutrition and other nursing basics. You will likely have some lab sessions as well to teach you even more about the biological sciences. You will then have the opportunity to spend a few weeks (each) in several different departments at a healthcare facility. Eldon Career Center is situated on South Pine Street just off South Aurora Street. The nursing program at Eldon Career Center is a 47-week course with advanced placement option for appropriate students and 100% job placement statistics for graduating students.

Franklin Technology Center

Driving east on Newman Road, you’ll run into Franklin Technology Center just after Sarcoxie Trail. The 10-month LPN program at Franklin Technology Center is the second oldest in Missouri and emphasizes hands-on training through intense laboratory and clinical experience.

Hillyard Technical Center

Hillyard Technical Center is located on Faraon Street between South Drive and North 36th Street. The program at Hillyard Technical Center is a 1-year course that prepares qualified students to care for people with various healthcare issues throughout life.

Jefferson College

Jefferson College Hillsboro Campus is located on Viking Drive just off Highway 21. The LPN course at Jefferson College is offered both as a Day program and an Evening / Weekend program. Admission is very competitive and is based on a point system derived by the nursing faculty.

Lebanon Technology and Career Center

Ozarks Technical Community College

Ozarks Technical Community College Springfield Campus is located on North Hampton Avenue just off East Chestnut Expressway. The program at Ozarks Tech. Springfield takes just under a year to complete and entry point are January and August.
