There are many approved LPN training programs in Minnesota. You must attend a program that is fully accredited by the state so that you can become licensed upon completing the program and passing the licensing exam. It is necessary to maintain good grades and to complete all courses successfully when training to become an LPN.

You will have many different courses that will help you understand the fundamentals behind nursing. There are various courses that you will need to complete in a classroom setting. After you complete these courses, you will have clinical studies. This will be your opportunity to gain hands on experience under the direction of your instructor.

Approved LPN Programs in Minnesota:

Alexandria Technical & Community College

Alexandria Technical & Community College is located on Jefferson Street right across the street from Douglas County Hospital. The LPN program at Alexandria Tech. is a 49 credit hour course that admits only current nursing assistants with First Aid/CPR experience.

Anoka Technical College

Anoka Technical College is located just off the intersection of West Highway 10 and Northwest Thurston Avenue. The Practical nursing program at Anoka Tech. is a full-time 4-semester course. Students can enroll in the PN Diploma track (53 credits) or in the PN Associate of Applied Science Degree track (63 credits).

Central Lakes College

Central Lakes College is located right at the banks of East River just off West College Drive. The LPN program at Central Lakes College is a 40 credit hour course that can either be completed full-time in 1 year or can be taken as a part-time program that can be completed in 2 years.

Dakota County Technical College

Dakota County Technical College is situated on East 145th Street right across the road from City Hall. The PN program at Dakota County Tech. is very flexible and can be taken as full-time or part-time, Day or Evening course. NCLEX-PN pass rate is a very high 96%.

Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College

Driving South on 14th Street, you’ll find Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College on your right just across the street from Hilltop Park. Students enrolled in the Licensed practical nursing course at Fond du Lac must first complete the prerequisites at the college and then move onto core nursing courses.

Hennepin Technical College

From Flying Cloud Airport go North on Flying Cloud Drive, Hennepin Technical College Eden Prairie Campus will be on your left just before Collegeview Drive. The Practical nursing program at Hennepin Tech. has a unique aspect: courses can be taken in person or online or in any combination of the above.

Hennepin Technical College

Hennepin Technical College Brooklyn Park Campus is located on Brooklyn Boulevard right across the road from Northland Drive. The LPN program at Hennepin Tech. can be taken as a 52 credit hour Diploma course or a 63 credit Hour Associate in Applied Science Degree course.

Itasca Community College

Itasca Community College is situated just off East Highway 169 right next to the University of Minnesota Experiment Station. With an NCLEX-PN pass rate of 94% over the last 4 years, the PN program at Itasca Community College provides students with the relevant theory and clinical experience necessary to become effective practical nurses.

Mesabi Range Community and Technical College

Mesabi Range Community and Technical College is situated on Industrial Park Drive near United States Hockey Hall of Fame Museum. The Nursing course at Mesabi Range Community and Tech. is a 3-semester course with the first semester of theory and remaining two semesters of clinical experience.

Minneapolis Community and Technical College

Minneapolis Community and Technical College is located on Hennepin Avenue close to Loring Park. The Nursing classes at Minneapolis Community and Tech. follows the career ladder concept. Students can complete 2 semesters and exit with a Diploma, or complete 4 semesters and earn an Associate in Science degree.

Northwest Technical College

Northwest Technical College is located at the junction of Grant Avenue SE and Roosevelt Road SE. The LPN program at Northwest Tech. is a flexible course that can be taken full-time or part-time, and the courses can be taken in a combination of on-campus and on-line mix.

Pine Technical College

Driving South on Co Highway 61, take a left turn at Chubby’s Sports Bar & Grill to get to 4th Street SE which will take you straight to Pine Technical College. The nursing course at Pine Tech. is a 53 credit hour course that prepares the students to write the NCLEX-PN exams.

Rainy River Community College

Rainy River Community College is located near the intersection of Highway 71 and Shorewood Drive. The PN course at Rainy River Community College focuses on nursing care for convalescing and chronically ill and provides students with extensive clinical practice in a number of local healthcare facilities.

Rasmussen College

Rasmussen College Mankato Campus is located on St. Andrews Drive just off North Victory Drive. The Licensed Practical nursing program at Rasmussen College has a service-focused curriculum with emphasis on Nutrition and Diet Therapy and Maternal / Child Nursing along with normal nursing courses.
